I absolutely love this climber at this time of year. Boston Ivy, one of its common names, just blazes out in red before dropping its leaves in Autumn. It can produce a display of red that is so vivid, as it suckers itself onto the structure or building that it tendrils itself up and along.
The tricuspidata uses pads, a bit like the gecko! To attach itself as it climbs.
What I like about it too is its neater habit, even at the great heights it reaches,  boston ivy is self sufficient, no trellis or twine.
Beautiful.
